We offer encouragement and support for those who find using an Apple Macintosh a vital part of their working life, and a great deal of fun with which to play. As MUG members, we get a chance to communicate with like-minded people (yeah, there are actually people out here who proudly used their Apple stickers, just like you did!), to share new things learned, ask questions of other users, and make a few new friends.
As a member of the Apple User GroupsMacCommunity will receive regular information directly from Apple and other MUG support groups which is then passed directly on to its members.
Joining the MacCommunity
MacCommunity has two main areas: An email list and a bulletin board.
Joining our email list automatically makes you a member of this Apple User Group. There is currently no charge or dues for being a member.
When you initially join us, you will be signing up to the email list only. Once you have subscribed, you will begin receiving emails from this service. You will also be able to post messages to the list as well.
To gain access to the member's bulletin board (BBS) you will be sent an invitation to join the BBS (currently private, but may become public later on). Instructions will be included with the invitation.
How to Join MacCommunity
You can join by sending a message using your email account, or you can sign up using the Join Form. This same form can be used to unsubscribe.
Optionally, to signup using your email program instead of the form above, send a message to:
In the body of the message, type:
SUBSCRIBE maccommunity John Doe
(substitute your name for "John Doe")
After several minutes you will receive an email. Reply to this email without changing anything in the body and you will receive a second email confirming your membership. Keep this second email as it contains important information on your membership with MacCommunity.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not send your subscribe message in HTML format. Send all messages in plain text format. That means no graphics on your signature or any font styling. This is important. If you send your message in HTML (the default in many email clients) your message will be rejected. If you would like help, contact the moderator (see below). This is a pain I know but such is the way Macjordomo works.
Once you are subscribed to the group, you can send messages to the list using this address:
